Bev Rogers, Owner/Director
When the school began in 1952, Bev was one of the first Teachers. She then took a number of years to raise her own family of nine while being both a raisin farmer and a lay midwife.
In 1999 when her mother, Blanche Nosworthy, passed on the torch of stewardship for her beloved Nursery School, Bev reemerged as Teacher/Director. She continues working on her Early Childhood Education credentials through courses and workshops offered by local Colleges and Universities and extension courses through UC Berkeley.
Teacher Bev offers her rich life experience and many talents for the benefit of both children and families. Bev’s teaching style emphasizes allowing children to learn by doing. She guides the learning process inviting participation, mindful of each child’s unique inquisitive process. Her goal to nurture happy, self reliant, motivated children with a voice of their own.
Teacher Blanche
As namesake of Blanche Nosworthy, daughter of Teacher Bev, one of the Nursery School’s first students and a current Teacher at Nosworthy’s Nursery School, Blanche has a unique perspective.
She completed requirements for Early Childhood Education Credentials in 1971 and was then hired by Monterey Peninsula College to develop a Student-Parent Cooperative Preschool on their campus. Since then while raising her family, Blanche built and ran her own Nursery School, served on her local Elementary Board of Education, completed her BA with Magna Cum Laude status becoming a Credentialed Teacher. Blanche has taught Preschool thru High School in California and Alaska.
Her passion for working with young children finds expression daily. Teacher Blanche uses integrated teaching methods making learning playful. Play is the most effective learning tool available to young children. Blanche’s teaching style helps children feel capable and confident.
Teacher Norma
Since 1978 Norma has known Teaching is her path. While raising her own family of four, she pursued her goal and in 2003, obtained her Child Development Associate Teaching Permit.
Norma has taught at Powers/Ginsberg Preschool as well as the Fresno Jewish Day School and at Nosworthy’s Nursery School since 2004. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Teacher Norma’s philosophy of meaningful education is active learning based. Active Learning involves the child in direct experiences where exploration and role-playing lead to new discoveries. She values play as the child’s natural learning method providing the opportunity to create, discover, explore and most importantly learn about themselves and how to get along with others.
